10 years after concealed weapons law, unclear why many in state were gun-shy

10 years ago, Michigan changed their gun-laws to shall-issue, meaning that any nominally sane adult without a felony record qualifies to carry a concealed weapon. What has happened since? Concealed Pistol licenses has soared from 52,000 to 276,000 people, approx. 4% of every eligible citizen. That’s twice the number predicted during the debates 10 years ago. And that’s about all that’s happened. No widespread lawless behavior or bloodshed. No gun-toting, trigger-happy citizens loose on the streets. Just regular folk getting along peacefully in their normal every-day lives.

Gee, who’d a thunk?

Flattr this!
